Description: Mission critical control system, landing light and runway control system. 65 RTU32s with over 5,000 I/Os in one network. PC-based RTUs with redundant network on optical fiber and event driven TCP communication
In connection with a major upgrade of the control system for the landing light Copenhagen Airport and DSE Airport Division has chosen RTU32 from Brodersen. The airport wanted to use their general IT network based on TCP-IP and Ethernet also for control of landing light. One of the important factors for the choice of RTU32 was the possibility of getting a redundant and event driven communication between the control tower and the distributed units controlling landing light and other technical installations like generator sets. About 80 RTUs with more than 5000 I/Os are part of the project.
By using the two Ethernet ports on RTU32 and RTU32s unique dual binding protocol you get a very safe and reliable communication channel. All commands are send in parallel in two separate networks and the receiving RTU listens to both. In this way it is secured that a delay or an interruption on one of the network segments will not influence the applicati. The RTU always reacts on the information first received. The administration of the huge amount of signals is automated.
The list of signals is transferred directly from one single Excel spreadsheet to the global binding editor which is a part of the programming tool used for RTU32. In this away a lot time is saved during configuration and testing of the installation and
later on maintenance is simplified a lot.
Technical Notes:
• Control and monitoring of landing light and technicalinstallations including control and monitoring of ventilation and diesel generators, regulators, etc. was originally installed in 99.
• The installation is in 2005 upgrade to a redundant RTU32 based system with event driven communication via Ethernet.
• The system includes more than 80 RTU32 RTUs andhandles more than 5000 I/O channels.
• The solution is delivered by DSE Airport Solution A/S in cooperation with Brodersen.
Description: Mission critical control systems, landing light, runway control system and ILS (Instrument Landing Systems). 25 RTU32s in dual network. Fast communication via event driven TCP (Dual- binding).
Description: Airport parking system, 150 RTUs (4,000 I/Os). 1 * 2 zenOn servers in redundant configuration, 2 zenOn clients.
Description: Brodersen’s GPRS Communicator is used to monitor traffic flows and congestion. Brodersen’s GPRS Communicator is used as a gateway, offering wireless communication between the remote monitoring points and the central control office. Each of the 13 monitoring points along the main ring road is fitted with cameras, which count the traffic, and a UCM-97. The camera takes a picture of the number plate and pushes the number plate data with a time stamp through to the central control room.
Description: Traffic control system in urban/city area of Nurnberg. 1,800 RTUs in a segmented network, special ABB hardware module.
Description: Knowledge of the rail temperature is a must for the safe operation of a modern railway. Brodersen’s solar powered RTU and GPRS Communicator are used to monitor the railway temperature and send the temperature and battery condition hourly to the zenOn SCADA system. SMS alarm messages are sent to all recipients configured in the system from the SCADA system to preserve the RTU battery.
Description: Brodersen has installed 30 RTUs (includes 2 redundant controllers) and two zenOn systems with special drivers for traffic systems in the 2km inner city tunnel. The system monitors and controls (via traffic panels) various events such as number of cars, speed, smoke/fire, accidents and closing down of lanes etc.
Description: The 1.3 km car tunnel is monitored and controlled by Brodersen RTUs. The system includes a remote master and Bitbus modules as well as 8 traffic panels. The system monitors and controls (via traffic panels) various events such as number of cars, speed, smoke/fire, accidents and closing down of lanes etc.
Description: Over 50 Brodersen RTUs are installed in the Eurotunnel. The critical Rail Monitoring Units monitors the rail temperature automatically. To control the heating of the tracks. The Rail Temperature needs to be monitored continuously in the summer as unusually high rail temperature can cause the rail to buckle and derail the trains.
